Pleased to Meet You
Nadia Katasonova,
MSW / Registered Social Worker
Hello, I’m Nadia
Couples & Relationship Therapist in Calgary
Relationships can be complicated. Sometimes you find yourselves having the same argument over and over, feeling more like roommates than partners, going through a big life change, or simply wondering how to feel close again.
Whether you’re feeling stuck, disconnected, or just want to strengthen your relationship, couples therapy can provide a space to slow things down, understand what’s happening underneath the conflict, and find your way back to each other.
I’m a Registered Social Worker and therapist (MSW, RSW) with the Alberta College of Social Workers. I hold a Master of Clinical Social Work from the University of Calgary and have experience working in community mental health, Alberta Health Services, and private practice.
I’m passionate about working with couples and creating a space where both partners can feel heard, understood, and respected. You won’t get a list of things you’re doing “wrong.” Instead, we’ll get curious about the patterns between you, what’s happening underneath them, and what each of you may be needing but struggling to express
If you’re wondering whether couples therapy might be a good fit, I invite you to reach out. We can start with a conversation about where things are at and what you’re hoping for.

Beyond the Therapy Room
When I’m not working with couples, I value the relationships and connections in my own life. I believe the small, everyday moments matter — the conversations, the laughter, the hard days, the repair after conflict, and the ways we show up for the people we love.
I bring that same belief into my work with couples: relationships don’t have to be perfect to be meaningful, and conflict doesn’t mean something is broken beyond repair.
My Therapeutic Approach
My primary approach is Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT). EFT helps couples look beneath the surface of conflict to understand the emotions, attachment needs, and relationship patterns that can leave partners feeling stuck or disconnected.
Instead of focusing on who is right or wrong, we work together to understand the cycle you’ve become caught in and create new ways of responding to one another with greater openness, compassion, and care.
I also integrate Somatic Experiencing (SE) into my work, helping partners notice what is happening in their bodies during moments of stress, conflict, or disconnection. Paying attention to these physical responses can offer another way to understand what is happening in the moment and create space for a different response.
I tailor therapy to each couple, recognizing that every relationship is unique and that your needs may change as your relationship and life change.
